JD.com Reports On How They Did This Year For Singles Day

JD.com, also known as Jingdong Mall of China had a highly successful Singles Day promotion this year, their best ever, in fact, their spokesperson stated. They held a Singles Day Shopping Festival that lasted from November 1st until November 11th in which they sold tons of products online. This was also the first year they had offline retail partners who also joined in on the festivities.

The JD.com website has products for sale in pretty much every single category. Some of the most popular brands they sold this year were Dell, Apple, L’Oreal, and Pampers. Chinese consumers were drawn to foreign brands, especially those from America, the Netherlands, Germany, South Korea, and Japan.

JD.com reported some of their sales numbers for this year’s Singles Day Shopping Festival. They sell fresh food that is delivered within the hour. They sold over 2,800 tons of beef, mutton, and pork. More than 2 million cups of yogurt were sold, and consumers bought 12 tons of live Canadian lobsters. Go To This Page to learn more.

Sales of 4K monitors doubled and sells of full HD projectors tripled versus last year. The number of Swiss Mido watches on the JD.com website sold more in just the first two hours as they had sold the whole day on June 18. Sales of Bacardi spirits went up seven-fold and 80 million condoms went out the door. In just the first 36 seconds they sold RMB 100 million worth of television sets or about $5.2 million in US dollars. 90% of these products were either delivered the day they were ordered or the day after.

JD.com runs a highly efficient warehouse and distribution system that is also now being used by its offline business partners. They have more than 500 warehouses across China and so can deliver packages at blazing speeds.

This August, JD.com announced their new “JD Blockchain Platform”. Enterprise-sized customers can use this platform to build and host their own blockchain apps in a way that is more convenient, transparent, and secure. This technology allows its users to make their operational procedures more efficient and gives their customers more visibility into them. One specific way this is being used it to trace food from where it was grown to throughout the supply chain.

Jingdong also operates a physical chain of grocery stores, 7FRESH. They opened their latest one on Single Days which is in Langfang, Hebei Province. When they opened their doors more than 10,000 customers shopped in the first hour. JD.com’s other physical stores, like their unmanned convenience locations, also did very well on Singles Day, exceeding 2017’s numbers.
