Alastair Borthwick was born on 17th February 1993 in Rutherglen. He, however, grew up in Troon and later moved to Glasgow where he went to Glasgow High School. Borthwick didn’t complete his studies, however, as he dropped out at the age of 16 and became the copytaker for the Evening Times at the time, soon afterward, he then joined Glasgow Weekly Herald who was a smaller newspaper. At Glasgow Weekly Herald, he would write on many different topics including the front-page leads. He also wrote topics that covered the women’s and children’s pages and even compiled the crossword.

Alastair Borthwick would then go on to become one of the world’s most renown writers. His book titled Always a Little Further has even earned a place in literary history. It will be viewed as one of the most groundbreaking mountaineering stories in history.
