Volcanic Water Company Waiakea Water Erupts onto the Scene

Have you heard of Waiakea Water yet? If you haven’t, you will. This Hawaiian company has experienced such explosive growth since its inception in 2012, that it will be hard-pressed to stay out of the spotlight for much longer. Why was the company able to grow 4000% in just three years? Well for one thing, its bottles areĀ fully degradable.

Waiakea Water was able to lure in big fish like Whole Foods and other national-scale players by demonstrating that their bottles are 100% recyclable and, better yet, fully degradable. The company utilizes TimePlast, a unique patented additive that’s specifically designed for the nano-degradation of plastics. The unique composition of the water bottle allows nature to rapidly breakdown these containers and greatly reduce their ecological footprint.

Another draw to this exciting new startup is that the water is sourced from a single spring on the main island of Hawaii. The founder of the company, Ryan Emmons, discovered that the water his family had been drinking for years contained a rich balance of nutrients and minerals. By running through thousands of feet of volcanic rock, the water picks up nearly ideal amounts of electrolytes and silica and comes to rest at a 7.8-8.8 pH level which contains healthier amounts of alkaline minerals than artificially ionized waters. The combined benefits of this water offer improved hair, nails, skin, and even up to an 11% drop in the likelihood of being diagnosed with Alzheimer’s.

The additional cost of manufacturing is also negligible as the TimePlast to plastic ratio is a mere 1:1000 in terms of weight, and the unique bottle composition demands 85% less energy during production than that required to make normal plastic bottles. If that isn’t enough for you, the bottles are made at a factory that draws nearly a third of its power from renewable energy and boasts 90% reduced emissions during the manufacturing process when compared to standard plastic bottles.

As seen, these bottles are not only safer for the environment, but also offer a slew of health benefits that other water companies cannot compete with. Waiakea Water is also partnered with Pump Aid who provides clean drinking water to rural communities in Africa.
